The sacred lake temple marking the exact spot where Bhagwan Mahavira attained Nirvana and was cremated in 527 BCE. After delivering his final 55 discourses known as the Uttaradhyayana Sutra over two days and nights of continuous fasting without water, Bhagwan Mahavira attained Moksha at Pavapuri on the night of Diwali. Legend states that so many kings and devotees collected ashes from his funeral pyre that a massive hollow was formed, which became the sacred lotus lake.
