Universal Reverence

णमोकार महामंत्र (The Fivefold Reverence)

णमो अरिहंताणं (Ṇamo Arihantāṇaṁ)

I bow to the Arihantas (The Enlightened Conquering Souls)

णमो सिद्धाणं (Ṇamo Siddhāṇaṁ)

I bow to the Siddhas (The Liberated Bodiless Souls)

णमो आयरियाणं (Ṇamo Āyariyāṇaṁ)

I bow to the Acharyas (The Spiritual Preceptors / Heads of Order)

णमो उवज्झायाणं (Ṇamo Uvajjhāyāṇaṁ)

I bow to the Upadhyayas (The Scholar-Monks & Teachers)

णमो लोए सव्व साहूणं (Ṇamo Loe Savva Sāhūṇaṁ)

I bow to all Sadhus and Sadhvis everywhere in the universe

एसो पंच णमोक्कारो, सव्व पावप्पणासणो। मंगलाणं च सव्वेसिं, पढमं हवइ मंगलं॥

"This fivefold salutation destroys all sinful impressions and karmic impurities. Among all auspicious hymns, it is the foremost and most supreme auspicious blessing."
